Customer:
A multinational information technology company with a substantial number of older terminals using proprietary emulations and protocols needed new terminals with equivalent functions – including support for legacy software – and at a much lower price than they’d previously paid. Because of the age of the customer’s system, Boundless engineers had to overcome the absence of reliable manufacturing and software product specifications. The fact that none of the customer’s employees who’d originally developed the system were available compounded the issue.

Solution:
The Boundless team elected to reverse-engineer the product using in-service terminals. Tests were run to reconstruct original specs; the product was redesigned and a totally compatible terminal was delivered at one-third the cost of the original.

ith more than five million of its terminals and thin clients currently in use in the United States and countries worldwide, Boundless Technologies might be considered a manufacturer whose primary focus is volume production and marketing. The reality is that Boundless is organized – and dedicated – to provide a global market with products that are better engineered, better built, better tested, better distributed and backed by better technical support than what our competitors can offer. Boundless focuses on the "custom" in customer.

There are two keys to providing our uniquely Boundless style of customization: one, an engineering capacity, built over many years of experience, to construct our products to achieve customer goals without total redesign; and two, a manufacturing organization able to manufacture a product on a dedicated assembly/testing line quickly and efficiently.

It all happens because of skilled personnel such as John Drewes (pictured left), shown testing a system for emitted frequencies in a special chamber, and Bob Simon of our professional services group (above), at work with Rem Jahrsdoerfer in engineering development.

As one of the world’s most experienced suppliers of text terminals and thin clients, we have more exposure to the latest standards and usage data. And our expertise in customizing products to meet specific end-user requirements is a prime reason why we’ve retained large multinational customers for years, and even decades.

Boundless Technologies is rated by our industry as a leader in what we do. We like the feeling and work hard to keep it.
