oundless Technologies sees a world linked by a global information infrastructure. A world where corporate information and applications are accessed wherever they reside and where computing takes place wherever its most efficient. Its a network-centric world. And our vision is to become the global leader in providing computing access solutions. Moreover, we believe that by manufacturing products for a global market that are better engineered, better built, better tested, better distributed and backed by better technical support than our competition, we can virtually assure the satisfaction of our customers and ensure our own success. Who is Boundless Technologies? Boundless Technologies is one of the worlds two largest suppliers of text terminals and a leading manufacturer of "thin-client" network computers. We are dedicated to making desktop devices that deliver low-cost, highly reliable access to information contained on virtually any computer network. Our objective is to remove the restrictive bounds of traditional computing and leverage the companys experience as a leader in text terminals to develop the worlds best network-centric hardware and software solutions. We market our products through a diversified channel approach that includes both OEM and two-tier distribution on a worldwide scale. As a major OEM supplier, Boundless Technologies manufactures terminals for some of the worlds largest and most respected companies, including AT&T, NCR, Digital, IBM, Lucent, Tandem, and Olivetti. We also manufacture terminals under the brand names Boundless, ADDS, VT, and Dorio. Users of terminals produced in our world-class manufacturing plant include such household names as Coca-Cola, Pizza Hut, Sears, Safeway, JC Penney, Avis, and Lockheed Martin, to name but a few. With an installed base in excess of five million units, we have established a clear leadership position in a market that is integral to our future as a global supplier of thin clients. We owe much of our success to a customer focus unique within the industry. Products are built to order enabling us to meet the specialized needs of customers around the world, while providing quick delivery of standard and customized products. In a dynamic and fast-paced international marketplace, teamwork is also an essential ingredient. By promoting close, long-term relationships with strategic suppliers, channel partners, and customers throughout the world, and by facilitating the personal growth of each employee, we have established ourselves as a globally-focused company that is both easy to work for and easy to do business with. Our close-knit management team has been seasoned by the rigors of a rapidly changing industry. Its a team with a commitment to excellence and a depth of experience unmatched by its competitors. More importantly, however, its a team that has an overwhelming desire to take the company to its next level of success and ensure the fulfillment of our vision. Information access: the force of change Not long ago, corporations relied exclusively on centralized mainframe computers as their information resource. While these systems provided tremendous power and security, they were complicated and expensive. Worse yet, they were ineffective in making information accessible to the users who needed it most. With the introduction of the personal computer came distributed processing and client/server networks. Users were not only able to process information at their desktops, but access and share information across the entire enterprise. But, there were drawbacks. Administration, technical support, and other management costs made the client/server model an unexpectedly expensive proposition. Enter the concept of network-centric computing where information and applications are accessed wherever they reside and computing takes place where it is most efficient whether on the desktop, a server, or a mainframe thousands of miles away. The Internet and corporate Intranets are accelerating the acceptance of network-centric computing. In fact, the Gartner Group projects that by the year 2000, the Internet will be "the dial tone of the data communications world." Unprecedented access to information will continue to drive corporations to extend their networks via Inter- and Intranets. And as companies embrace this new model of computing with increasing rapidity, Boundless Technologies will be ready to deliver high-quality access solutions tuned to the needs of its customers. A company at the forefront Boundless Technologies has been a leader in the network-centric movement since its inception. As such, we were among the original endorsers of the Network Computer Reference Profile and one of the first to launch a family of first-generation network computers or thin clients in 1996. Subsequently, in 1997 we introduced our second generation of thin clients, which brought greatly increased flexibility and functionality to the product line and advanced Boundless Technologies preeminent position as an industry leader. Our family of thin clients and software combines the capabilities of a PC including Windows® applications with the administration and cost advantages of a terminal. Boundless thin clients offer simple, easy, and cost-effective access to current and emerging application environments including Windows applications, the World Wide Web, the Internet, corporate Intranets and JAVATM, as well as UNIX and legacy applications on mainframe and minicomputer systems. Indeed, the Boundless Technologies family of thin clients offers the broadest access capabilities of any thin-client device available today. Thin clients have the advantage The thin client is rapidly emerging as a viable alternative to the traditional desktop PC "fat client." The reasons are obvious. Thin clients cost far less to buy and administer, are simple to install, and can be easily maintained from a remote location. Studies show that a network administrator can support more than 150 thin clients, compared to less than 50 PCs. The result, according to Zona Research, is that Boundless thin clients offer a 57% lower total cost of ownership. Whats more, Boundless thin clients can be quickly adapted to the changing needs of the com-puting environment, minimizing the effects of technical obsolescence. Thin clients are gaining quick acceptance in a wide array of vertical and horizontal applications. Examples include point of sale, point of service, healthcare, transportation, banking, and customer service, as well as other transaction-intensive applications in the real estate, insurance, and service industries. These applications typically require solutions which are lower in cost, extremely reliable, highly secure, and have the ability to be remotely managed and upgraded. Boundless Technologies thin clients deliver on all counts, particularly in their ability to function as "Windows terminals," providing access to what a Computer Intelligence research report says is the worlds most important body of software Windows-based applications. With the advantages of thin clients comes dramatic market growth. According to International Data Corporation (IDC), worldwide demand is expected to grow from 565,000 units in 1997 to approximately 4.3 million in the year 2000. |
