VIEWPOINT ADMINISTRATOR Boundless Technologies Viewpoint Administrator software is a unique system management utility that is specifically designed to reduce administrative and organizational costs and to allow administrators to serve more users effectively. LOWER ADMINISTRATION COSTSViewpoint® Administrator eliminates the hassle and cost typically associated with system administration by centralizing the management of all Boundless Viewpoint TC thin-client devices on a network. Through the Viewpoint Administrator, network administrators can manage, configure and upgrade from their own desk, or a remote location. This capability reduces the required number of service calls to perform these and other local support functions. In addition, Viewpoint Administrator facilitates the "customer-paced" migration capabilities of the Viewpoint TC thin-client product family. Users simply select the Viewpoint TC model that addresses their current needs, and as requirements change, administrators can easily upgrade each Viewpoint TC on the network through the Viewpoint Administrator software. Theres no need to visit each desktop to perform upgrades or to discard the current hardware and start from scratch. Obsolescence costs and the need to accurately predict future requirements are virtually eliminated with Viewpoint TCs and Viewpoint Administrator software. EASING ADMINISTRATION WORKLOAD Viewpoint Administrator gives the administrator control over how each specific |
Viewpoint TC thin-client device is configured and used. Access to the Administrator tool itself will not be permitted without proper user name and password. Administrators can determine which work stations and/or users have access to specific applications and information. This tool also gives administrators the capability of remotely monitoring and modifying Viewpoint TC configurations. BIOS conversion, upgrades and configuration as well as changes to the devices local operating system, terminal emulations, client applications and peripheral drivers can all be performed from an administrators desk or a remote location. Administrators are also given the ability to poll individual Viewpoint TCs or groups of Viewpoint TCs to collect and verify that specific hardware and firmware conditions exist, including base hardware configurations, diagnostic and configuration logs, remote event monitoring, presence of trouble tickets and secure access. LOCAL AND NETWORK BOOT The client server architecture provides a full range of application and operating system software access. "Local" client software provides higher performance and more economical use of network bandwidth while "remote" client software provides server-based control, thinner thin-clients and flexible configuration control. Viewpoint Administrator provides upgrade and control capabilities for both remote and local client solutions. This includes revision control and application configuration settings (e.g., cache on/off). In the case of network boot, the Viewpoint Administrator creates and controls images needed for network boot.
